ERIKSEN RESIDENCE
Seattle, WA 2002
A remodel of the second floor of an existing postwar bungalow in Seattle's Ballard Neighborhood. The existing house had two small bedrooms and a half bathroom in the upper story, but due to the rooflines had almost no natural light in the room and no views out the west side of the house, which overlooks Puget Sound. A large dormer was added by inserting a beam under the ridgeline of the existing roof. The new addition provided enough space for a new master bedroom, a new master bathroom, and a new home office. View decks were placed in the corners of the addition to soften the corners and make the addition appear less bulky.
